The Southsea Counsellors’ Continuing Personal & Professional Development Group.

Commencing Thursday 30th September 2010 – fortnightly – 6:15pm-7:45pm, Marple Cross Centre (map).

The Southsea CPPD Group is for counsellors who have qualified within the last three years (minimum of Diploma in Counselling) who wish to expand their understanding of counselling work through the experience of enquiring into professional issues from both a professional and personal perspective.

Counsellors may continue the process of their personal and professional development. The group aims will be decided by its members, which may include attendees assisting each other in discovering ways of developing their personal and professional stance in their counselling work, understanding of working ethically and with integrity in the counselling field, developing a private practice or seeking employment as a counsellor, professional accreditation and so on. This will not be a therapy group, although the process may be experienced therapeutically.

All participants are welcome regardless of counselling model.

Facilitated by Stella Gothard – BA(Hons), CQSW, Dip.H.E., WPF Cert Supervision, MBACP (Accred), HE Academy (Accred) and Dean Richardson – Dip. Counselling, Dip. Couple Counselling, MBACP (Accred).

Solent Professional Therapists’ Support Group

Calling Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist Practitioners in the Local Solent Area.

Are you a qualified, accredited & practising counsellor/psychotherapist (perhaps working independently?) in the local Solent area (Portsmouth, Havant, Southampton etc.)?
Would you benefit from receiving regular professional & personal support and development from a group of your peers?
Would you be interested in meeting in a confidential group that meets periodically to discuss each other’s personal and professional issues in our therapeutic work as part of your ethical monitoring and developing practice?
Interested in a group who’s aims are behind the support offered by supervision alone?

Update – February 2010:
Three counsellors have expressed interest in joining our new group. We probably need another three or four before starting the group. Contact me if interested.

I have been looking for professional support groups in the area and have not been able to find one within at least 45 minutes travel of Portsmouth. I wondered that if there are enough interested parties who might like to meet in a more Portsmouth-area’d location, and would be interested in forming our own support & development group, I know of a place in Portsmouth/Southsea that could accommodate us (at least initially) for a reasonable fee, comfortably room (accommodates around 10 people), tea/coffee, toilets and is accessible out of office hours.
