The Workings of a Counsellor's Head [Blog]

What goes on in a psychodynamic/systemic counsellor's head whilst he's working…

ABOUT THIS BLOG:

Counsellors are human too… what goes on inside their heads can make the difference between chatting with your best mate… and chatting with a good counsellor.

Some counsellors refer to the stuff going on in our heads as “Counter-Transference” or “Projective Identification“. It means that our minds (and our bodies) are listening and responding to the client… in addition to what our ears are taking in. If we use this additional information well, it can make the difference between a client working with an ordinary counsellor… and a really effective one.
